Your Opportunity

The Advisor Services Technology (AST) Data Services Group manages data for AST applications by supporting data architecture, design and development using fit-for-purpose databases. This team serves 55+ AST applications across 6 domains and is responsible for building optimal data solutions keeping in mind data security and privacy. In addition to data, the team is also responsible for AST Mainframe development.

What you are good at

  • As a Senior Team Manager, you will lead a team of talented Database Engineers and Mainframe Engineers and help take the AST Data platform to the next level.
  • This is a technology leadership role with people leadership responsibilities managing Data and Mainframe Solution development for all Advisor Services data.
  • It will include executing and realizing the strategy for the team to support the dynamic needs of AST whilst leveraging the wider firm-wide data platforms where applicable.
  • The role includes hands-on management of both full time employees and contractors.
  • The role encompasses establishing and directing the strategic and tactical goals for the teams, building a client and data driven technology organization focusing on data quality, security/privacy, timeliness, accuracy, availability and scalability of AST data. 
  • The Sr. Manager will provide leadership and oversight to multiple Agile Scrum teams and partner directly with Product Owners and Application Development Managers across AST.
  • This person will be partnering with AST Platform Architects and Enterprise Architecture to lead Data Platform modernization initiative in order to build a next-gen data platform that is more efficient and domain-driven than the current architecture.
  • The Sr. Manager will be responsible for coaching and developing the team, being a champion for them and providing feedback.
  • The role is also responsible for on-call escalations, production stability and proactively assessing and addressing any platform stability issues.

What you have

  • 7+ years of experience managing large cross functional technical teams.
  • Experience with managing application development teams is a must.
  • Experience with information technology programs and services in the investment management industry
  • Experience in creating positive and productive relationships with business and technology partners
  • Experience leading Agile Scrum development teams
  • Experience with growing talent, building high-performance teams, identifying potential organizational risk, resistance and gaps, and work to develop and implement mitigation and/or corrective actions
  • Experience managing and working with complex enterprise solutions and hosted environments
  • A commitment to high ethical standards and integrity, demonstrated through action
  • Strong communication skills, high-energy, positive, entrepreneurial in spirit
  • Goal-oriented and results-driven
  • Must be a Self-starter; takes initiative and can work independently
  • Well-organized and disciplined with high attention to detail
  • Possesses a “Can do” attitude and a team player. Must be a champion for your team.
  • Significant experience transforming teams through technology, organization, culture, process and business change management

  • Ability to work hands on with team members to inspire and motivate all levels of staff towards both tactical and strategic delivery goals
  • Ability to drive change with external counterparties and vendors, managing and enhancing relationships and services provided

  • Skilled communicator and negotiator with exceptional written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal skills
