Job Description: Function as a senior software development engineer within the Charles Schwab Balance, Position and Transaction team, supporting existing architecture and design, while designing, developing and delivering business needs. Need to be a driven, results-oriented technician who shares our passion for technology, innovation, and excellence. Our main goal here at Schwab is to transform people’s lives by changing the way the world invests. We are enhancing our core applications to support scalability and conversion requirements for the upcoming integration efforts. The Software Development Engineer is a hands-on leader who excels in a dynamic, fast-moving, and agile environment and is committed to ensuring high quality, scalable software. The ability to work with a team of seasoned engineers whose main objective is to maintain all aspects of the overall software development lifecycle and ensure the on-time, quality delivery of software product releases is vital. Able to handle fast-paced environments, thrive under pressure and embrace change enthusiastically is important. Can analyze, develop, test, and direct other technical professionals to ensure that all software solutions accurately align with the ever-changing needs of business.  Mentors other team members. Applies specialized knowledge within area of expertise, understands broader impact on the company. Resolves a wide range of issues by applying judgment and technical know-how to identify creative ways to complete assignments and influences others to take actions. Solves problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires complex evaluation of identifiable factors.  Uses sophisticated analytical thought to exercise judgment and identify sound, sustainable innovative solutions, methods, and techniques. Networks with senior personnel internally and externally in areas of expertise and/or across groups to resolve issues, gain needed information, and influence outcomes.

What you have


Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science or a related field followed by 6 years of progressive, postbaccalaureate experience in job offered or related occupation.


Experience and/or education must include:

  1. Mainframe programming and design skills and experience (CICS, Cobol, JCL, DB2, MQ)
  2. Microsoft Office Tools proficiency
  3. Agile experience and expertise in methods and processes and capable of supporting agile project teams/activities
  4. Applies specialized knowledge within area of expertise, understands broader business impact on the company. Resolves a wide range of issues by applying judgment and technical know-how to identify creative ways to complete assignments and influences others to take actions.
  5. Demonstrated problem solving of diverse scope where analysis of data requires complex evaluation of identifiable factors.  Uses sophisticated analytical thought to exercise judgment and identify sound, sustainable innovative solutions, methods, and techniques.
  6. Meticulous attention to details in all project life cycle areas as demonstrated with previous projects and specific examples.
