Charles Schwab & Co. is seeking an innovative and passionate Director of Order Management Technologies. This is an opportunity to deliver Order Management solutions used by Schwab Clients and internal Associates. You will lead and develop multiple teams of talented software engineers working on cutting edge technology in a growing FinTech market segment.This leader’s primary responsibility will be the delivery and support of the Order Management technology platforms focused on core business and platform capabilities supporting our internal Order Management systems.

An ideal candidate will enjoy belonging to an impactful and growing engineering team, driven and motivated to lead, strong communication skills, extensive experience with client facing and back-end technologies.  Other responsibilities include:

  • Lead and develop a team of ~20-30 talented engineers to deliver the next generation of Order Management services for our associates and clients
  • Possesses technical expertise and knowledge in application development, including client/server, web services (specifically .NET), middleware, database, etc.
  • Drive our Agile implementation to ensure we continuously optimize our ability to rapidly deliver features/fixed to our clients, foster collaboration, accountability and transparency
  • Champion new ways of collaborating with technology and business partners to ensure we build high quality solutions against a shared strategic vision
  • Influence and implement improvements and efficiencies in the technical aspects of the development process
  • Works well in a dynamic, fast-moving and collective work environment, with a positive attitude and solid work ethic
  • Ensure the highest quality software is developed, delivered and maintained

What you have


  • BA/BS Degree in Computer Science or related degree
  • 8+ years of IT project leadership experience in technical, project and vendor management capabilities
  • 8+ years of people management experience with at least 5 direct reports
  • 5+ years of experience with running medium to large/complex projects with multiple dependencies
  • Domain knowledge and experience in application development, including SPA, REST services, web services, middleware, database, etc.
  • Solid understanding of the SDLC and project planning/execution skills including estimating and scheduling.
  • Prior experience with Agile processes in planning, implementation, and support of business application components, including change & release management
  • Must be self-starter, very detailed and analytical, and have a curious mind that enjoys digging into how things work and continuously strives to enhance the product, workflow and the process.
  • Works well in a dynamic, fast-moving and collective work environment, with a positive attitude and solid work ethic.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, facilitation, and motivational skills, with the ability to build rapport and grow consensus with peers and other groups
